Character- and/or pairing-centric.
May Dance by
gisho
(Tsubasa RESERvoir CHRoNiCLE ; Fai + Sakura)
THE GOOD • It makes the pairing work. Somehow. The writing is good, the characterization, very belieavable, but making the pairing work? Means that the author is a divine deity of some sort.
THE BAD
(untitled?) by
cynic_in_charge
(Spirited Away / xxxHOLiC - crossover ; Haku -> Chihiro)
THE GOOD • Crossovers are hardly ever this natural, the fic takes elements from both series' and fits them successfully into its story. The feeling of neither of the counterparts interacting being really human, despite using human means of communication, is also very clear, which is absolutely delightful.
THE BAD • I say that lacking a title is a flaw. You may think whatever you want.
Spoilers for the movie, Spirited Away.
an exercise in denial by
theyellowvespa
(Bleach ; Soi Fong -> Yoruichi)
THE GOOD • Drabbles well done are an art. An art few have perfected.
THE BAD • Beware of lesbian ninjas! Oh, wait, that's a good thing.
Some spoilers for Soi Fong's background.
Night-blooming Heartsease by Julad
(Harry Potter ; Neville Longbottom + Severus Snape ; R)
THE GOOD • Takes a pairing like that, shoves it down your throat and makes you like it. Wonderful prose. Plus the author has imagination and knows just what to do with it.
THE BAD • Y'know, I still can't get over that it's Neville/Snape. Now moving on.
(A series of drabbles) Symphony of a Killer by
dark_geisha
(RG Veda ; Kendappa-oh + Sohma ; R)
THE GOOD • A rarer style, a few dozen 100-or-so-word drabbles connected. Every drabble is written so differently, it's amazing. And the author says she's out of practice writing them...
THE BAD • The characterization of a single (in this fic-)side character didn't really click with my interpretation.
Spoils a great many things. Nearly everything.
Sixty Days by
summerwolf
(Fafner in the Azure ~ Dead Aggressor ; Makabe Kazuki + Minashiro Soushi)
THE GOOD • ...If someone said this was official continuation of the series, I wouldn't notice anything wrong. Seriously. It also made me cry my eyes out, but I'm not really sure whether or not that's a good thing...
THE BAD • A few grammatical mistakes here and there, I think, but seeing as I'm only pretending to know English, my word doesn't really weight all that much.
Spoilers for everything. EVERYTHING. Do not click if you don't want the series RUINED for you.
