KUOPIO.
HOME. SNOW. WONDERFUL.
The trip was fine. We spent an unholy amount of time inspecting museums. (Like, five days out of six. Oops.) Early on there was aroooundd twelve to fifteen hours of sitting on the ground of cold German train stations, but we survived!
General Observations:
-German people can't speak English!
-and I can't speak German
-French people won't speak French, only English
-occasionally older German ladies speak Finnish fluently
-I bet Japanese tourists weren't expecting anyone to eavesdrop on them
-finding an all-English antiquarian bookstore in France: very shocking
-German train stations don't have any benches (sadistic bastards, those designers!)
-Crépes are ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING-- and I want another one, now and not tomorrow
-trying to find vegetarian baquettes from Paris is a trying task indeed
-arcitechture is not what it used to be. By which I mean, Paris and Hamburg were gorgeous, Helsinki... isn't
-France has excellent older gentlemen
-younger German gentlemen are wont to buy young girls taxi riders! SCORE
One (1) very unexpected skill I acquired on my long journey to, ahem, central Europe (thanks to all the Asian museums): I can now tell a Hokusai painting and a Hiroshige painting apart.
What.
