put her on a pedestal, will you

1) I'm not going to watch the Air Gear anime. I tried the episode Akito/Agito is introduced in and. The execution is too amateurish. :( The manga is better xinfinity.

2) Very belated thought re: Darker Than Black (triggered by the Pandora episodes): some things in this world remind me of that one Soviet author's sci-fi novel, A Roadside Picnic. How everything within these alien, secluded areas is unpredictable and dangerous in thought-defying ways. (Mostly this came to mind by the randomness that was the lines of arranged boots, only that was explained later. :/) But in DtB it seems to happen more in the mind than in "reality" as it did in the book.

3) I can't. Stop. Thinking about Cecil/Kain/Rosa. Curse you, announcement of a DS remake. I also can't stop playing around with the new scans on photoshop. Witness, one of the many unfinished icons I've started!

That's interesting, actually, because I also saw someone else mention the Roadside Picnic similarities in the Shinsen-Subs forums back when the series had just started out. Which prompted me to look it up and read the translated version that's online. And I really do see the similarities -- though for me it was Episode 3, with the bloody bodies everywhere and the utter terrifying strangeness. The area surrounding the Gate seems to be the equivalent of the areas in Roadside Picnic, which was making me wonder if it had to do with aliens after all, but I don't think so. XP

Is Air Gear that skateboarding series? Because I know I tried something with "Air" in the title a while back but was sooo confused (probably because of the really bad translating). Or am I totally mixing up my anime?

It's been many years since I read the book, so it would've taken something truly spectacularly odd (in a totally random way - apparently shoes lined upside down qualify!) for me to make a connection. Because things like "and there was silvery hair growing out of a baby carriage" are what I will forever remember the book by. The scene you mention really is more reminiscent of the mood of the book than any of the scenes in the Pandora arc.

I have a hard time trying to speculate anything in DtB because so very few straight answers are offered. Which really is a good thing, I think, as far as storytelling goes. But aliens are as likely as anything else. Please, leave it unresolved.

Air Gear is a(n air-)rollerskating series! Probably the very same series you tried, but I don't think bad translation was solely at fault, because it -it's a very special series. I-I've read nearly two hundred chapters and really have no idea what's going on. ...But it's very entertaining!
