Firstly, a glorious and ridiculously long Gundam Wing fanfiction: Freeport by ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
maldoror_gw. Over an year after the first chapter, it has been finished. And there was much rejoicing. (The last, 34th chapter, as well as the epilogue can be found on LJ.) Warnings: graphic sex, graphic politics and graphic violence, yay! Oh, and 2x5. Yeah.
Secondly, the xxxHolic movie, Manatsu no yoru no yume, which can be found at Shinsen-Subs' torrent page.
At times the animation was wonky (mainly when Watanuki was flailing around), but otherwise it was fine, as in fine (though Yuuko's breasts and everyone's limbs scared me) and kept loyal to the manga style. Non-light-reflecting irises and pupils, limbs like spaghetti, and no shoulders ftw. Still, it's always nice to see familiar characters animated.
The music was nondescript. It set the mood well, but I can't remember it... there's something in the back of my mind about Japanese folk instruments? ...
The acting itself was close to perfection, but some voices could have been better. Nothing negative to say about Watanuki's, Mokona's or Himawari's, but Yuuko's was at least an octave too high, and Doumeki... there aren't any high school boys with voices that low. There aren't. Please tell me there are no high school boys with voices that low.
The plot. It was so xxxHolic that I think I squee'd at the computer screen during the movie. Eccentric and scary and imaginative and moving on some weird level, ah. ♥ An extended chapter from the manga in a different medium.
