third day

Um, someone whose journal I follow on and off and who is trying to quit smoking is ranting about anti-smokers. Not much on that (other than me wanting to laugh in her face), but both she and the people responding keep on mentioning that children especially shouldn't be exposed to smoking as much as other people ("move about ten feet away if a small child approaches," not that ten feet makes any difference unless it really is downwind) and, er, what? I don't count as a child anymore. Why does this mean these fuckers think it's perfectly fine to deprive me of my breathing air?

(About a week ago a boy tried to get me to keep him company while he smoked, and that's the nearest I've come to actually hitting somebody since elementary school.)

Look, I don't care that you're slowly, or not-so-slowly, killing yourselves with your own toxins. I don't care about the children working in the tobacco factories any more than I care about other children in other factories. I do care that you're burning our rain forests away, but at least at the moment I'm a bitter, bitter person who thinks it's okay to let it slide as long as I, personally, die before they're completely gone. But if you absolutely have to smoke, do not do it while walking on the street, at the bus station, at the train station, on your backyard where the smoke carries to neighbouring houses, inside, in front of shops, in front of any public or private service station, or in the forests dear lord because that would be ugly beyond words. And if that leaves no intelligent place for you to smoke, hey, all the better for me. All the better for everybody.

I don't really care whether or not this is coherent, I'm in the mood where people start wars.

And next week - same time, same channel, I shall discuss cars! Only not.
