Day 17: A pairing you thought would never work out, but did?

Hiruma (蛭魔) Youichi, captain of the team, and an evil (by which I mean that he would punch a baby), manipulative (by which I mean that he literally blackmails people into doing things they hate) asshole (by which I mean that "fucking" + meanspirited descriptive noun is the normal way he addresses people) and Anezaki (姉崎) Mamori, the very nice, sisterly and overprotective team manager, from Eyeshield 21.

Why I thought it wouldn't: Oh god the spirited good girl/bad guy archetypes. Surely the most meaningful interaction they could get would be the most basic kind of tsundere couple that never goes anywhere. Any attempt at romantic subtext would result in the most boring, overused cliche of a relationship in the world. Besides, what could they possibly have in common?

Why it did: when they are alone together, much of that posturing falls away, not playing roles anymore. It's not build on archetypes after all, just two people meeting on an even ground. And they play together for the good of the team instead of being at odds in everything, which I truly, honestly didn't expect.

DAY 17: Favorite monster?

Aww, it's so cute and non-threatening!

Also every single elemental from Vagrant Story.

Hmm what's this? A tiny plant growing out of the--

FUCKING HELL THAT SCARED ME

This is Abaddon from Nocturne. Usually its appearance is like the one in picture 1. When it ATTACKS, however, it suddenly jumps out from under the floor.

It is also five times bigger than the main character.

Good times.

Horus

and Skadi

I like in PS2 SMT games because the special effects used in their appearance are nicely done. Horus glows an aura of gold and the black of Skadi's body is not coloured black, it's the indescribable blackness of the blank television screen staring back at you.

It is somewhat unsettling.)
