"I set no boundaries for my love. None at all."

Personal time management failure! So two today.

Day 14: What is your favorite book pairing?

He leaned down suddenly to rest his brow against mine. "When I recall how beautiful you were," he whispered brokenly, and then fell silent.

The Fool and his Fitz, The Farseer, (Liveship Traders,) Tawny Man trilogies. The wolf is part of the family.

This is one of those ships that is impossible to explain without reading the books, or quoting over half of them. Much of it has to do with the Fool being the central enigma the books, and a very well done one at that. The Fitz stories are about figuring him out, testing his boundaries and building a close relationship with him, so to explain this I would have to explain all those little moments. And more than well, it was done effectively; I had difficulties reading the last half of Fool's Fate through all those tears. The book was quite ruined. (Looking for a suitable quote I was brought to tears again, so eh. Still works after all these years?)

It's a multilayered relationship, and not always easy. It isn't resolved neatly, and it goes through many (and I do mean many) changes. Perhaps its charm is that it's never stagnant: it keeps the promise and never tips over that edge, doesn't cut off any possibilities. And it always manages to reach a balance.

I'd need to quote whole pages to really explain why.

(I am also cautiously fond of Jaime and Brienne from ASOIAF, but got to wait until the books are finished.)

DAY 14: Who do you think should/shouldn't belong in the Dissidia Roster? (Whoops this turned into a rant.)

1.1) What is this person doing in Dissidia?: Tidus, Jecht and Vaan. Jecht makes no sense as a villain, no sense at all. And the only reason they added Jecht was because they had to have Tidus instead of Yuna, so yay? Tidus makes much more sense than Jecht, but I understood that the point of Dissidia was to gather the heroes who won against the bad guys in each game, which in X would be.... Yuna. Wanting to add only the main player character is understandable, of course, but NO ONE would have complained it they had gone with Yuna instead. Only the people behind these decisions themselves.

Vaan is the second-to-least important character of XII, and had no real part in overturning any evil force. He was there only as a moral support, but I guess if they didn't put him they would have had to put a middle-aged man or, gasp, a girl who they CAN'T retcon into a wimpy magician (see: Tina). And who would want THAT.

1.2) What WOULD this person be doing in Dissidia?: Lock and Zack. Zack is already stealing spotlight enough as it is. Sure he is heroic, but he was an optional minor character. Why the hell would they add him?

And I just can't stand Lock personally. Besides, there are characters who are more important plotwise, such as Celes and Edgar (who plays a major part both before AND after the end of the world).

2.1) Why is this person not in Dissidia already?: Yuna, Celes and Ashe/Basch. Ashe made the hard decisions at the end of the game and there already is a Gabranth, so why not add Basch to the mix? Would make a hell of a lot of thematic sense. Either one from XII would be fine.

Celes is the missing part of the Tina-Celes-Kefka trio, and the main character of the latter half of the game. I don't care for her that much, but who in their right mind WOULDN'T add her? Magic knights go go go!

2.2) SCORE!: Dragoons do it from above. (And in the back.)

(No MegaTen equivalent, but I would REALLY like it if Maya and the female main character from Persona 3 Portable were included in the "Persona protagonists all together" fan art. I can understand not taking FeMC into account due to her being a new addition, but leaving Maya out because she doesn't fit neatly into the boys' lineup is.... basically everything that I hate about the concept of gender and how it fucks up people's perception. In summary: DOING IT WRONG. DOING IT RIGHT.)

Day 15: What is your favorite real life pairing?

No.

Day 15: What is your favorite video game pairing?

It takes two to tango.

DAY 15: Favorite minigame?

Sink-the-submarine from VII. I suck at most minigames because I have no patience to learn them, but this one was impossible to win without studying it at least a bit. So I took the time to learn the rules and the tactics. When I got to Gold Saucer, it was the only game that I knew how to play, so I used it to make money... tiny amounts at a time.

By the time I had enough money, I was playing it for fun. :ยด) I might be a bit rusty at the moment, but give me a few rounds and I'll own at it again.

(MegaTen: many a floor puzzle from many a game, nice little brain warmers. Except for this one:

NIGHTMARES.)
