a sweeter faith still is the draught called "love"

Harry Mayborne/Jack O'Neill from Stargate SG-1. Yes, really.
Mayborne is a slimy bastard who is never on the right side of the battle... yet he's never shown to be irredeemable. He and Colonel "always the moral victor" O'Neill hate each other... yet go to surprisingly great lengths for each other. (Besides, they're pretty even with who gets the upper hand in pissing the other off.) In the morally black-and-white world that was the early seasons of Stargate, both of those were singular, precious things. That's why I treasured every Mayborne-centric episode, and that's why I (kinda-sorta) ship them. More as a strained friendship, to be honest, but still.
"I hate you and you never do the right thing, which might have justified this feeling, but I'm not okay with you dying." "I hate you and I have no moral obligation to keep you alive, but I'm still not okay with you dying." (Without at least trying to do something to prevent it.) That sort of feeling.
DAY 13: Favorite quote?
"Warping the minds of men and shepherding the masses has always been your Church's domain. You lure sheep with empty miracles and a dead God. ...Or perhaps you, too, are a sheep, Samantha. A poor little lamb, bleating for your faith as though it were milk of the poppy. Yet mark your savior well, for he is one of the demons you so fear, Samantha."
(Sydney Losstarot, Vagrant Story)
(MegaTen:
"Be you angel or demon... you will surely regret giving me this cursed power!"
(Gale, Digital Devil Saga 1)
"A heretic called upon an unearthly light, and devastation ensued. Chaos crawled out of the depths of the ocean, from the black abyss. Death upon death... nothing but death in this barren land. Who can we pray to? There are only demons and fiends here."
(Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne))
