Finncon/Animecon: The animosity between finnconists and animeconists reached its peak this year. As a visitor of both, this managed to be both awkward and hilarious at times. George R.R. Martin (!!) was a witty and interesting performer in all his panels and interviews, and I'm suddenly the happy owner of (among other things) a handsome poster of the original Macross series. Though I've never seen it. Hm.
At the moment I'm living in a fairytale castle, and it's every centimetre as pretty and pink as the pictures show, though unsurprisingly the advertisements left the molding walls, rusted pipeworks and layers of dust and dead insects unmentioned. It's still a nice place to be (provided you're not asthmatic), with huge gardens (not taken care of) and a river (...p-polluted) flowing just next to the property! I ordered a package from amazon.fr here before leaving Finland (they wouldn't ship it internationally, so this was my only opportunity to get the product)... but even though the castle has a mailing address there's no mailbox for it to arrive. We'll see what happens.
