Guys.

Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials is not an atheistic trilogy. They have nothing to do with atheism, and are therefore not atheist propaganda.

What they are is a very clear attack on organized religion.

Organized, dogmatic religion and religion as a personal experience, while having a possibility of co-existing, are not synonymous.

And if you think they are, I'm heavily questioning your intelligence.

word. I don't know why no one gets this either. Both atheists and Christians/Catholics/whatever. There was so much whining over the movie people cutting out the religious references back when the movie was coming out...

(I'M pissed that they cut all the trasitory chapters. The movie version is all stuff happening on stuff happening on more stuff happening - sprinkled with dialogue that is NOTHING but exposition! - with no breathing room in between. We're told something and oh! before there is any time to adapt we're presented new information that, okay, builds on the earlier bits but feels like the director has ADHD. A massive emulating girlcrush changes into chilling disappointment resulting in a tense face-off, complete with an intense chase scene followed by a majestic introduction of a tribe leader and his kingdom and five minutes later we're wandering the snowy fields of Scandinavia. Why is every bit of plot being treated as equally important? COULD YOU PLEASE CONCENTRATE ON A SINGLE EVENT FOR EVEN A MOMENT. I'd rather they cut some plotlines and adapted it into something coherent instead. BUT ANYWAY.)

Mostly what vexes me is how people, whether religious or not, complain/laugh at how the books suck at "atheist propaganda" because there so totally is supernatural things in them! Therefore enforcing their existence! Ha ha, suckers, got you there, you just totally tripped over your own cleverness! To which I'm kind of wtf-ing.
